类似《极简宇宙史》这样的书，要准确描述出书中内容的出处是相当困难的。我并不是书中这些理论的发现者，但我会尽我所能对这些理论作出阐释。
本书大部分素材来源于我上史蒂芬·霍金及其他一些著名科学家的研究生课程时的教材和讲义。
当然毫无疑问，书中还有一些内容来源于我曾经在剑桥大学应用数学与理论物理系(damtp)参加过的讲座或讨论会的资料，以及我访问美国加州理工学院(caltech)和圣巴巴拉的kavli理论物理研究所时获取的一些材料。以前我每年都会花上一个月的时间待在kavli理论物理研究所，和史蒂芬·霍金及他的博士生托马斯·赫托格、杰姆斯·斯帕克、奥西恩·麦克康南姆纳在一起。
